Respect Life Ministry
Mission: To promote prayer, education, and formation for the defense of human life from the moment of conception to natural death and for the preservation of the dignity of every human person gifted by God with life and made in God’s image.
Board Meets: First Thursday of each month from September to June at 7:00pm in room #1 Parish Life Center. Everyone invited and urged to attend.
Ministry Objectives and Initiatives:
Educate and raise awareness of pro-life issues through bulletin announcements, posters and postings on the TV monitors in the Narthex, outdoor banners, pro-life mass intentions and distribution of pro-life literature
Sponsor annual Respect Life Conference in the parish
Provide financial and material support to the JMJ Crisis Pregnancy Centers through the JMJ Baby Bottle Fundraiser, the Baby Shower/Birthday Party held at the end of the Spiritual Adoption Program, and assisting the Knights of Columbus with Spaghetti Dinner Fundraisers for JMJ
Save babies through the Spiritual Adoption Program, a 9-month program during which participants spiritually adopt, name and pray for an unborn baby in danger of abortion
Educate the parish/community by displaying roadside Pro-life banners and banners depicting child development in the womb during the 9-month Spiritual Adoption Program
Raise awareness in the parish/community through the White Cross Campaign in which crosses are erected roadside in front of the church in remembrance of babies that have been aborted
Annual “Life Chain” during which participants form a roadside chain in front of the church to pray for an end to abortion while displaying pro-life signs
Distribute pro-life material and recruit volunteers on Membership Drive Sunday, Ministry Fair, Roe v Wade anniversary, Respect Life Conference, JMJ Baby Bottle Fundraiser, JMJ Baby Shower, Spiritual Adoption Sunday, and other ministry activities
Support the school and PREP with pro-life material
Pro-life notice in church bulletin which provides helpline for crisis pregnancy situations
“Sidewalk Prayer Saints” meet to pray/counsel in front of Planned Parenthood abortion clinic
Legislative communication on Life related issues
Participate in the “Florida Walk for Life” in St. Augustine
Participate in prayer vigil at Planned Parenthood on Roe v Wade anniversary
Rosary for Life prayed 9:00am daily in Divine Mercy Adoration Chapel
Bulletin announcements for abortion recovery assistance
Sponsor Pro-Life/Life-Saver billboards in metro Orlando
Monthly presentations on Life Issues
Ministers of Respect Life:
Ministers of Respect Life have a special role to play in the parish. They contribute in one or more various ways. They can plan pro-life activities, volunteer to support the objectives and planned activities, and/or help support projects with direct financial contributions or fundraising activities.
