On the evening of that first day of the week... when the disciples were gathered in the Upper Room, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you." Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit..." John 20:19-23 |
After Pentecost, the disciples were able to leave their fears behind in the Upper Room and move out into the world to share the Good News. Like those gathered on that first Pentecost, we are also empowered and guided by the Holy Spirit. |
The Holy Spirit empowers and guides us...
when our parents are sick.
when we are at play.
when we gather in prayer.
when a loved one dies.
when we celebrate.
when we go to confession.
when we fight with our friends.
when we play baseball.
when we go on a date.
when we feed the hungry.
when we give thanks.
when we are afraid.
when we read Scripture.
when we struggle with decisions.
when we share the Good News.
when we are tested by peer pressure.
when we struggle with a decision.
when we are confused.
when we study for a test.
when we attend Mass.
Come Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created
and you shall renew the face of the earth. Amen.
